About Me
My name is Abigail Connors, also known as Abbey. I am a full-time student at Old Dominion University in my last semester of college. I am majoring in Communications, with an emphasis in Public Relations, Persuasion, and Advocacy. Communication studies has always been very intriguing to me, and there are so many opportunities within the field itself. Throughout my college career, I have realized that marketing and advertising is a professional dream of mine. Before I chose to major in Communications, I wanted to be an art major considering I have created art just about my whole life. Once I realized that I could collaborate business and art, I thought of majoring in Communications considering I could incorporate my artistic creativity and communications skills in May of 2018 once I graduate. To confirm my route in the marketing and advertising field, I enrolled in a class called Advertising Strategies. In this class I was able to work with Colonial Williamsburg located in Williamsburg, Virginia, and create a strategy to increase their evening traffic. This experience was very satisfying because I was able to put my education and creativity to the test by creating a real advertising plan as if I was in my career, and now I know this is my passion.

Beach Enterprises
May 2016 - When Needed
Beach Enterprises is based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia and consists of sales from the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic for O'Neill, Stance, and Nixon. Each of the brands mentioned are some of the top surf brands. As an office manager of this company, my responsibilities include: being the receptionist, placing orders for our accounts, designing flyers for events, creating marketing activations, organizing the clothing lines before showing them to our accounts, and making sure the office runs smoothy at all times, even when the sales representatives are out of town.
Life Enrichment Center of Norfolk
Spring 2017
As a volunteer, it was my duty to tutor and mentor first and second graders from a local elementary school weekly. I helped these children with reading and writing leading to an increase in their skills overtime, while also giving my best to be someone they can look up to.
Community Service
2008-2017
As a volunteer for community service, I assisted with activites and socialization with the elderly members of the Riverside PACE Centers in Newport News and Richmond, VA, prepared and served lunches at shelters in Newport News, VA, participated in "Santa to a Senior" program for elderly individuals at a nursing home in Williamsburg, VA, and walked in the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer walk in Virginia Beach,VA.

Old Dominion University
I will be earning a degree in Communication Studies with and emphasis in Public Relations, Persuasion, and Advocacy come May of 2018. As a student, I am in Zeta Tau Alpha (Iota Sigma chapter) and was the PR chair for two semesters and the Greek/Non-Greek Philanthropy chair for one semester, and an attendee of the American Marketing Association events held at the school.

Warhill High School
Warhill High School is located in Williamsburg, Virginia. While in high school I was associated in the Warhill Lions Art Club, Marching Band (section leader for the front ensemble), Teaching Assistant for AP Human Geography, and an assistant for the school guidance counselors.
